Those Glen Lea kids probably going to Varina, HSHS, and Henrico
Yeah I agree with 95% of your points but, the “having reasons to talk” led to a lot of unhappy people who were out to get them and they left a paper trail. I live by the stay down til you come up motto. They have a successful youth league organization, they’ve won 3 state championships (was going to get #4 this year), they were going to build a state/national public school in the talent rich DMV area, and they run a good program minus the off the field antics. They were reckless.I don’t agree with how they did everything and really consider that back and forth online bs very rec league coach like. But hey they have reason to talk so until somebody shuts them up then so be it. They trained these players from kids to young adults…for lack of better wording they “made” this team. I just don’t like how people seem to want to make it bigger than players following their coach…literally all it is. DO has one of the most successful youth organizations in the state so no clue why it would be a surprise his players want to play for him at the Hs level no matter what it takes.
Btw Bo whatever Hs in Richmond that gets the talent from the Glen Lea youth teams is going to be a force in the state within next 3-4 years. I’m sure the majority of them will stay together at next level…and i see zero problem with it.
Just curious... how is Sussex one of the most disappointing teams in 1A? They finished 5-5 and are the 4th seed in Region 1B after losing two 1,000 yard running backs, the whole offensive line, and they only returned 3 defensive starters. I may be bias because I talk to a few of the coaches down there but I think they did an excellent job with alot of first year starters. If I heard one of the coaches correctly at homecoming...their entire backfield(QB and both RBs are 10th graders). For those that have studied the game should agree that a first year QB who only played 2 or 3 games at QB on JV...will have their hiccups. So going 5-5 isn't the greatest, especially by our standards in Sussex but I wouldn't call it disappointing...in my humble opinionPlaguing Essex? They have one loss so I wouldnt quite say they are plaguing. Stop making excuses and let things play themselves out. Essex has had 2 close games and won 1 and loss the other. I think their close encounter with Westmoreland was more of Westmoreland living up to their potential. Now the L they took to Rapp I'm sure everyone was surprised by that. Rappahannock may have just figured out a formula to success and that's not knocking Essex but more so giving the staff over their some credit.
Sussex and Galax have been the most disappointing teams in 1A Football. I certainly expected more from them.
I'm looking forward to these playoffs and the fact that we will get to crown a new State Champion this year because we all know that the 'Big Red Machine' will be back in 1A next year. So lets enjoy this while we can!!!!

If we’re both out doing something illegal and we know it’s hot, we’re not going to bring more attention to ourselves. Check their twitter pages and look at the back and forth with opposing teams, fan bases, and critics. Those coaches were poking the bear. @Bucktown434 made the point that these were black coaches and you, me, and most black folk know that there are a lot of people that didn’t want to see those guys be successful. They were too high key.
Oh wow. I wonder why they want to be in the VHSL then?I think the closet they have to sports is a sailing team.
This is all speculation i think because this has never happened or been a thought of happening. Timing is so odd they decide to rule on the day the playoffs start. This all should have been resolved and rule by mid season.Hmm, interesting. Wonder how VHSL expects that to work with their state championship venue rentals on 12/14?
Oh im sure they do and I know it's a beautiful place. I was just busting his chops 😆My wife was born in Bluefield, WV. Beautiful place! They sure do care about football down there...

So many people hated on DO at Freedom and when he took his players he brought up since youth league with him to a new school it was only a matter of time people would complain.
Sidenote i saw PME at the state championships last weekend and wow they got some talent coming up. DO might have to go coach private school to avoid this happening again

I think the closet they have to sports is a sailing team.Weird, because they have less than 100 students and it doesn't look like they even currently have a football team
well we’ve been warned that if this goes thru then only Hayfield’s region may be playing next weekend. And it’ll be redoing the first roundI doubt this goes anywhere. In the off chance it does, it certainly wouldn’t need to delay anything except Class 6 playoffs. Also, one would think it would only impact 6C for the time being. That region would be playing a game every 4-5 days to catchup in time for the semis.

Most larger localities hire residency compliance officials within their school system to investigate any student in question. We know there’s some sketchy stuff going on with Hayfield but if FCPS has “investigated” and found no issues, then there’s technically nothing the VHSL can really do. It’s not like they can leave Charlottesville and post up at a student athlete’s house in question way in Alexandria. IMO, had Hayfield’s coaches just stayed lowkey, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

They can't afford to have a delay, it will wreck their winter sports, the football players make up the basketball, wrestling and indoor track teams. Most schools can't field the other teams without the football players. Doesn't affect them one way so, who cares what is going on in NoVa. I still don't understand the fussing over a private school playing with the public schools. Just about every other state has multi private schools competiting against the publics. Va is just late to the party, but no need to get panties all in a wad. As long as the kids live in the school district it doesn't matter where they came from. Nobody is commuting from New York to Lynchburg so that has nothing to do with any of it. Things most be much different in NoVa and the tidewater with non moving transfers. Mass majority of the rest of the state doesn't even have those options or even concerns. But the local school system should never be allowed to conduct the final says investigation and never has before. The vhsl always conducts the deciding investigation. If these other past coaches got away with it, it is because nobody ever reported them to the vhsl. The vhsl doesn't go out actively looking for any of this, it has to be reported to them from a member institution. But it falls on the head coach and AD, they are responsible for the master eligibility list for their teams, it is their job to verify residency. If all the players live in the school district then there is no need for concern. But if they don't, then they are 365'd until that year is up. Only way around that would be open enrollment, but that only works if you live inside the county or city of that school system, can't come from different counties and cities and commute. It's where you lay your head at night 3 days a week. Not where you get mail or say you live. Should be pretty open and closed, they either all live in the district or they don't and then it is simple. But, it wasn't the vhsl that seeked hayfield out. Somebody in your own house turned it in or a neighboring school. That's the only way vhsl ever catches wind. What will be interesting is what attorney's in other parts of the state do, could see some lawsuits from other parts field against Hatfield. Definitely getting my popcorn out, but more than like won't be 💩.
