Hayfield

Yeah I agree with 95% of your points but, the “having reasons to talk” led to a lot of unhappy people who were out to get them and they left a paper trail. I live by the stay down til you come up motto. They have a successful youth league organization, they’ve won 3 state championships (was going to get #4 this year), they were going to build a state/national public school in the talent rich DMV area, and they run a good program minus the off the field antics. They were reckless.

Glen Lea is 90% Varina and Highland Springs. You’ll have a very small percentage of kids going to Trinity, Benedictine, or other county schools. A good majority of the 90% goes to Springs but the V gets a good chunk too.
If those Glen Lea kids stay together in high school then man the state has hell to pay. And you’ll have your 804 dynasty. I’m calling it now.

Hayfield

Dude please stop it, they did not train the QB he came from two different private schools before he landed at Hayfield nor the Dematha player and before you run to the rescue I’m not saying he can’t coach but boy folks reaching to make a point with their own narrative.
Ok? That’s two transfers (out of 30) that hoped on board. It ain’t a narrative it’s a fact his team is made up of his kids from PME.

Hayfield

I don’t agree with how they did everything and really consider that back and forth online bs very rec league coach like. But hey they have reason to talk so until somebody shuts them up then so be it. They trained these players from kids to young adults…for lack of better wording they “made” this team. I just don’t like how people seem to want to make it bigger than players following their coach…literally all it is. DO has one of the most successful youth organizations in the state so no clue why it would be a surprise his players want to play for him at the Hs level no matter what it takes.

Btw Bo whatever Hs in Richmond that gets the talent from the Glen Lea youth teams is going to be a force in the state within next 3-4 years. I’m sure the majority of them will stay together at next level…and i see zero problem with it.

Class 2A champion?

I agree. No question about it. One thing to keep in mind though, that poster is one fan of one team and one fan never represents the "mindset" of the team (players and coaches). I feel confident that Graham, Union, Glenvar, and whatever he identified Poquoson as, are all dialed in and focused and the only thing they are focused on is the very next game. Same for every other team.

It's hard to know the mindset of every team, but I'm guessing all of those at the top know and believe (surely the coaches do) that there are about 8 to 10 teams this year that can win a state title and the coaches and deep down, even the players know it's wide open.
I think there has to be a little bit of luck factored in also. Schools this size can't afford to have injuries to key players, because there aren't a lot of quality backups to choose from, usually. I think teams that execute better have an advantage too. Penalties will send you home this time of the year

State Runs through Altavista

I agree Altavista is clearly the team to beat and I think they will win the title, but they are beatable and they can lose. Essex is not the only team that could give them problems but so could Rye Cove, a healthy George Wythe, Rapp, and maybe Buffalo Gap and Bath. I favor Altavista.

Patrick Henry Glade Spring. A team with major injuries throughout the year and a shell of what they could have been. They are now healthy. Do not be surprised if the 8th seed in 1D beats Holston.
GW will be lucky to make it past Grayson County

Twas the night before playoffs..

It really did.. looking back when my son started football in 4th grade to now graduating this year. With all the ups, the downs, the wins and the learning he has experienced, it has all flown by. You always think there is more time till it runs out on us. Make the most of it, take the time, make the opportunities, and never say - maybe later.
What type of JV career did he have?

Everyone playing for 2nd

so are you saying they should be higher in classification?
How so?
They’re not playing by the same rules as everyone else. Enrollment shouldn’t matter here. They’re a recruited team playing against mid sized public school teams. Send them to C6 with teams that have equal talent across the board.
