With a result I think few saw coming, Westfield played their most complete game in three years. They forced South County into three turnovers and used a strong ground game to get a big win.

WF kicked off and SC started the game at their own 38 yard line. Facing a 4th and one at their own 47 yard line, the SC run came up short and WF had field position inside SC territory. WF soon scored on a 37 yard Jenks run off right tackle and WF jumped out to a 7-0 lead (Mattfeld XP) with 8:36 remaining in the first quarter. On SC's next possession QB Orth fumbled and the ball was recovered by WF's Anderson on the WF 38 yard line and then advanced to the WF 44 yard line. WF was unable to gain much yardage and punted, pinning SC on their own 10 yard line. SC drove the field and got as far as the WF 25 yard line where they were faced with a 4th and 1, but converted a 4 yard run to get a first down. Losing two yards and facing a long 4th down, SC elected to quick kick in an attempt to pin WF deep but the ball went into the end zone. WF's drive netted 30 yards and reached midfield before stalling, but a great punt that SC failed to field resulted in them being pinned on their own 1 yard line. SC went three and out and the short SC punt gave WF excellent field position on the SC 27 yard line. After three plays WF faced 4th and 7, but a DPI got them a new set of downs at the SC 12. Another DPI moved the ball to the SC 6 yard line before Nelson scored from a yard out on a pitch to the left side just as the half expired to give WF a huge score and extend the lead to 14-0 (Mattfeld XP).

WF received the second half KO but went three and out, giving SC great field position on the SC 48 yard line. SC also punted on their drive and WF's Anderson got a long return of 36 yards to reach the SC 28 yard line. WF went on to get as far as the SC 12 before they stalled and Mattfeld kicked a 29 yard FG to extend the lead to 17-0 with 5:07 to go in the third quarter. On SC's next possession QB Dennis (he replaced SC QB Orth at the start of the half) was intercepted by WF's Rennyson at midfield with the ball returned to the SC 40 yard line. Several plays later WF's Duda ripped of a 21 yard TD run and after the Mattfield XP the WF lead was up to 24-0 with 1:59 remaining on the third quarter. SC''s Dennis was intercepted again on the next SC possession, this time by WF's Anderson, and WF took over on their own 38 yard line. Unable to move the ball, WF went three and out. At this point SC went to almost all passes and at the 10:00 minute mark of the 4th quarter Dennis found WR Amoakehene for a 17 yard TD pass, After a two point conversion run by SC's Martz the score was now 24-8. SC forced WF into another three and out, and again scored quickly when SC's Dennis found Amoakehene again, this time from three yards out, and the WF lead was down to 24-14 (2XP run was stopped) with 6:00 remaining in the game. WF took the KO on their 30 yard line needing one good drive to run time off the clock. They were successful, using a 30 yard run by Kennedy and a 18 yard TD run by Nelson as the big plays in drive, extending the lead to 31-14 (Mattfeld XP) with less than three minutes remaining. SC started their next drive pinned deep at their own 16 yard line, but using a very successful passing game got one final score when Dennis passed for his third TD of the night, this one to Hoskins, (Hess XP wide right) to get the final score of 31-20 with 42 seconds remaining.
