Facts. I wish someone would explain to us how having rich families sponser football players to attend LCA is not recruiting.
Kettle Run should put up a banner that says "2024 VHSL Class 3 Public School State Champions".
I told everyone come playoff time you take the private school out, the west side of the playoffs would of been some hellacious games! Any one of the last 4-5 remaining teams could of made it to state and would of been one hell of a finish against the other side of the state. Heritage, Byrd, Allegheny, Turner Ashby and even Broadway would of been one heck of a state championship. Any of those teams would have been a great game with kettle run. But woulda, coulda, shoulda nobody could stop or slow down LCA in the post season. I say run it back next weekend LCA vs Phoebus and winner gets Oscar Smith or Maury. Now that’s a state final I’d love to see!!!!!

First: Kettle Run gave up 20 points to Sherando. What did you think would happen in the championship game? No. Really. What did you think was gonna happen?
When the Heritage Pioneers beat LCA in 2022 before getting dog shackled in the finals no one was complaining about how LCA put their football team together.
I read someone's post once in the past where they were complaining about the Maury head coach after the Commodores started winning. This is envy.
I posted before that I believed much of the complaints concerning the team formerly known as The Freedom Eagles centered on jealousy. I believe another poster added a recording of an actual real life and currently working and modern Virginia High School football head coach saying things about the Hayfield head coach that are more in line with 1950s or 40s or 30s or 20s or 1910s or 1800s or 1700s Virginia, with your out of touch Confederate flag flying selves. Weak in the legs bums.
Are you sure (those of you making derogatory comments about those young men) that you are not just green eyed and enviously jealous?
Whatever LCA is guilty of it is this. They are not playing football with oversized space aliens from the planet Ishtar. The Football Gods did, however, give the kids and coaches the required tools. Those kids and coaches lined up and beat the teams that were put in front of them.
Back in the 1990s and before guess what the general thinking was.

There is a difference between winners and losers. Stop whining! Improve your football team. Real football fans should be starving for their favorite team to face such a challenge.
LCA put their 2024 football team together the same way they put that one together; their 2021 team that the Phoebus defense made to look like the 2024 Varina Blue Devil's offense. I mean, Varina was playing pretty tough for 2 and 1/2 quarters before being folded like a pre-creased throw rug. Too bad for them but the game is 4 quarters long.
I don't believe LCA should be playing D3. But they do. So. Go play them and beat them. It has already been proven that they can be beat when they are at their best.
As a reminder; Virginiapreps.com once had a senior editor that did not take too kindly to a Black man complaining about the state of race relations as it pertained to Virginia High School football. That guy is still one of the more pathetic human beings I have ever met. That bum was allowed to work with kids in Virginia.
Stop flying that giant Confederate flag on the side of the road on game day or move the freaking games out of Lynchburg! Bums! VHSL! Bums! You know that flag is there! You bums! Tell your friends they are classless bums!

I can say that I don't think Varina will score more than 7 points against the Phantom's defense without calling the players any bad names like...pool boy cheaters. That's just being mean.

Can LCA compete with the top D4 and D5 teams? Why don't they ever schedule those teams other than Salem from time to time.
Please take into account that during this mini run LCA has been on, they've had a national top 5-10 running back that would get money against most HS defenses. I'm confident that next year will be a different story around this team.
Bet they win it again next year & do it easily. Hope I am wrong but I bet that they bring in a lot of talent including from out of state. Until the VHSL decides to do something its going to get worse. Not just football either. Look at girls basketball last year. One transfer from Greensboro & one from San Diego. Both signed with LU.

There out of district schedule not cream puffs. An in district they play Amherst, Glass, an JF all D 4.
It's not like they can't be beat they where in the bottom half of the seminole when they first came into the VHSL. They just got lucky an have the right athlete at the right time. Now the win 6,7,8 straight then yea maybe there is a problem.
I was actually giving Salem credit by mentioning them.
And when I say top teams. I mean the way Varina,Phoebus,Dinwiddie even Salem routinely play with the best C5 and C6 teams could LCA compete with the top of C4 and C5?
The more your allowed to bring in out of area talent, the more they gonna do it. A little more each year!! It’s a slippery slope that keeps getting steeper and more slippery until it’s dealt with

Terrible, albeit very impassioned attempt to justify a genuine lack of ethics on behalf of LCA. Let’s have the Cowboys petition to play class 4 next year. Strap up Phantoms, no complaining, give it your best.
Why have any rules? Why throw flags? Just try harder boys.
The way LCA assembles talent isn’t remotely close to how it happens for most schools. We are talking about a youth league after all. To downplay this is just wrong.
But no, we want to segue to the confederate flag and make this issue about race?
Also, Phoebus kills everyone it seems like. Are they massively recruiting? Are there pages of forums dedicated to bashing the way they do it? I honestly don’t know but I don’t think so. Your analogies don’t hold up and your cognitive dissonance is part of the problem.
I don't think they will win it next year. Heritage will probably win the region and make it to States vs Lafayette or someone else. But Class 3 is pretty weak over all honestly. It's not very much depth with quality teams. That's why we see the same teams in the region championships or Semifinals every year.

Salem never plays any C5 or C6 teams at all except for Fleming and Franklin County in their district. Dinwiddie is a great program but the only C5 or C6 team they have played OOD in recent years if Maury and that was a blowout. I agree with Varina and Phoebus playing C5 and C6 teams close regularly.
Lafayette is moving to Class 4 next year so they won't be there. I agree that Heritage will probably be the team to beat from the C/D side of the bracket next year. They were the only team to challenge LCA this year (in their first matchup), and they are returning many of their starters on both sides.
I'm pro Christian. I'm not even Baptist, but with the way this world can't stand anything about Christianity, I openly root for LCA now and never did before. When I read the one posters comments which basically are an attempt to use race and bigotry as an argument to go against LCA, I cheer harder for LCA. Why? You know and I know that deep down, the poster who made up some stupid claim about confederate flags can't stand Christianity. It sickens him. It bothers him. People like me and thankfully about 50 percent of the country also clearly understood that concept a little over 1 month ago.
If you want to come at LCA because it's private and they have an unfair monetary advantage which allows them to get players, that is 100 percent fair game and justified (and I also agree with you). I also think that MOST people who are coming at Liberty are doing so strictly because of the unfair advantage and it has nothing to do with LCA being religious that bothers them. But, there are a few that gets muddled into these threads that simply have a problem with Christianity and my post is directed more at you.. If you come at LCA with the so outdated race or bigotry or anti lgbtks12e argument because you deep down have a problem with religion or Christianity, people like me will double down. For example the first poster who wrote "Bible Boys." He wrote that because deep down internally, "he no likey" the Bible and his dislike for that probably outweighs his disgust for a private school playing public sports but you can rest assured he will not admit it.
I also feel LCA should not be playing in the VHSL, nor should any other private school. I also think the leadership at LCA has used unethical practices related to unfair advantage in sports. And I believe TJ is moving down to Class 2, as well. Class 3 is bleeding away talent this realignment cycle.
Yep, yet people blame it on LCA being a private school. The truth is that Class 3 is probably the weakest of all six classifications in terms of depth of quality teams. But no one wants to talk about that.
What is the process to go to LCA? Could a player that lives out of zone just easily go there because it's a private school? Like could I live in a neighboring town and still go to LCA with no problem?
It's disheartening for sure. The John Marshall situation in 2A basketball is just as bad. They openly recruit and are not held accountable (and they're a public school). Maybe they should get the Hayfield treatment.
I was trolling. Don’t have anything against LCA. Actually thought it’s commendable that they took their own route and played public. Its just lame how many people persecuted Hayfield but give John Marshall and LCA a pass 🤣
No sir. I had a son that played there from 2020-2023 and one that is still there. You have to live in the designated zone to be eligible for sports or you can pay an out of zone tuition but you have to sit the first year you transfer there. That's the rule for all VHSL schools.

Only C5/6 teams have been OOD? Really??
What about Central District opponents C6 Thomas Dale and Meadowbrook, and C5 opponents Prince George and Matoaca?
BTW, all three of the OOD opponents made the playoffs, and every team in the Central District except Meadowbrook made the playoffs. That’s 9 out of 10.
Also, Dinwiddie lost two games this season. One to C5 state champ Maury, and one to C4 state champ runner up Varina.
