Blog LIVE Blog - Monacan (3-0) at Manchester (2-0)

Brendon Clark stays in and completes a pass for 31 yards to Brandon Majette, then runs for 3 yards to put the Lancers inside the Monacan 10.

Now it has become a total flag fest with two dead ball infractions, both on Manchester.

We've not even reached the 4th quarter - 1:15 left in the 3rd period - and we have a total of 24 penalties (14 for 130 yards for Monacan, 10 for 101 yards by Manchester).

Seven different receivers have caught a pass for Manchester tonight - Tre Clark, Brandon Majette, Kevin Henderson, Zach Bowman, Miles Moore, Alston Robinson and McNeil - as Brendon Clark is 13 for 18 with 279 yards and a 4TD's with no turnovers.

Manchester's offense is hitting on all cylinders. Clark has had a hand in 6 of the 7TD's tonight, sprinkling in two rushing scores. Isaiah Todd (15 carries for 82 yards) has the other score on a run.

It hasn't even been a matter of pure breakdowns in coverage or secondary play from Monacan either. Manchester is just clicking through the air.

A 38-yard punt with no return by Monacan as we have now hit a running clock in the 4th period of this one, a game where Monacan had the ball first and a chance to claim the lead. They only trailed 14-3 after one quarter of play. It has pretty much been all Manchester since with the exception of the scoring drive before the break by Monacan.

The backup QB Romell Garcia is in and he can do damage on the run. Saw him in the preseason scrimmage at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex against Ocean Lakes - another Class 6 Top Ten team - and he gave the Dolphins fits on QB draw run plays. Monacan's defense couldn't catch him and the offensive line opens up great running game.

That's the 5th touchdown of 25 yards or longer on the night for Manchester.

Monacan gets the drive on the move a bit behind Mendoza, though it ultimately stalls. On 4th & 13 from their own 40 with 4:49 to play, Stone Snyder is back in, but not to throw and instead rather to put it away.

It's only a 16-yard boot and Manchester could potentially be adding more points to its total...

Run clock, run!

I hope you can snag an interview with Brendon and Hakeem?
Clock can't run fast enough... this one would be over if not for the 28 penalties. Got a hunch we don't see Manchester tested until the Class 6 Region B playoffs - and even there they should be considered the 'favorite' in my eyes against a Thomas Dale or Colonial Forge.

A Manchester vs. Oscar Smith matchup in the State Semis could be epic.
