Something to consider

This thread is the best thing going in a LONG while on here.

You get everything from this. You get trash talk from both teams, you get trash talk from other teams, you get people stating facts and then people stating that others facts dont matter, just their side of facts.

But then the one that nobody has mentioned, maybe everyone else knew it, but we had a poster show that they have multiple accounts, as they use one and actually name themselves as their other name in it.

I bet this thread gets to 300 posts by Friday.

But keep the talk coming, I need to know who to pick for the pickem
GW and Glass for Region D!!!!

Don’t know how any GW fan should be calling out Salem lol..... if it was me I would be like the silent Sheep with fangs.... no need to get Salem fired up .oh well “you reap what you sow”. Good luck to both teams .
Lol that’s the difference in fans in Winchester and fans in Danville :p LOL!!! But seriously, we want Salem to be fired up cause we sure as heck will be:D

Everywhere I go. It was just one guy! Until Hoos fan rises from the ashes stop painting all Louisa fans as arrogant. Very humble and respect Monacan. If you view any post I or other Louisa posters have made the only response you will get from us is after the other side has fired a shot our way. I love Monacan and Dinwiddie. Respect the heck out of them. Well coached and good players.
Aye mane, this is Danville and Salem’s thread.. Any other teams mentioned has to forfeit their game on Friday :confused:o_O:oops:

Haha. I’m with ya. I didn’t bring Louisa into this thread, that would be @OCBoy . After seeing Salem work Cville last week, I’m interested to watch them against GW. I hope in a few weeks we will be talking about the Lions vs. the region D champ.

#4 wore maroon and orange , his son plays at Glass. , and he isn't really a jr, but he is #4's son and mirrors his father a lot therefore #4 jr . in the eyes of the HokieNation . And like I said if he is half the football player Andre was, we have our hands full.
Ahh I follow now.

@southbottomU I wanna for sure meet you Friday. Shake your hand and talk some football. Show you that all Danville boys ain’t thugs and trouble makers :D:p
Never thought all Danville boys were thugs and trouble makers. In 2014 two kids had some bad moments and acted in a thugish manner. But that wasn't all the kids and it was just a few moments from those two kids that they probably regretted. Did my research on you also. You are just a super fan that loves the kids in Danville and will promote them and defend them. Good for you. On a different note, how will VCU do against the young Hoos Friday night?

This is what posting should look like. Why would you want out now :) Everything in this thread is awesome. This has fact, fantasy (see all of DSH posts) and fun. I can not believe this thing is still going :):D:rolleyes: The best part is about 50% will have been off base, wrong or educated by Saturday morning.

Look at this list.. Salem, GW, Monacan, Dinwiddie, EV and Louisa.. half of these teams season is over after Friday

This list.. Liberty, Kettle run, Millbrook, Sherando.. two of these teams will get to move on..

Yeah I didn't think we had enough about C in this thread.. they shouldn't get off so easily

Friday night is a chance to measure where both GW and Salem are currently. The matchup is a throwback to when GW used to play real football and they were a regular playoff host to RVD powers. Pulaski, PH and Fleming all can point to memorable games and in earlier times Jefferson and Andrew Lewis were in that mix as well. Not slighting Salem but, other than White's 1986 team, they never really got in the AAA mix once the new high school opened. Good luck to the kids on both teams Friday night. Been quite a while since Danville actually hosted and played in a game with the potential for a real atmosphere in the stands. For Salem it is a chance to make a statement that despite a few more losses than in recent years they haven't gone anywhere. It will also be interesting to see whether the skill guys step up and make it a contest resembling basketball in cleats or the big boys in the trenches decide to remind everyone that championship football teams can still be traced to who controls the line of scrimmage.

Thanks brother. This thread is all in good fun. I think my Rams will be ready. I gave up my UVA/VCU ticket to come watch GW/Salem ..We have more offensive weapons than we've had in 5 years. Defense looked matador the other night against North Florida but I'm pleased with our young team. I don't have big expectations until next season though. We currently have 2 seniors and a graduate student and literally a bunch of freshmen and sophomores on this year's team. I think that next year's team will get back on the big time national stage and anything less than Sweet 16 will be unacceptable. UVA should win Friday but I think we will shock some folks at the Maui Invitational the following week. I think VCU will at least get an at large bid this year. Kyle Guy, Devon Hall, and company may be a little too much for us this early.

On the GW/Salem note and hopefully to entice a few of the oldtimers and long time observers of both programs in to the mix who would be on your respective all time teams(offense, defense, specialists) at both schools? Go as far back as you would like, Lewis qualifies as the Salem predecessor. No right/wrong answers just opinions and trip down memory lane. Big names on both sides of this discussion Eddie Joyce, Curtis Taliaferro, Marcus Parker, Dennis Haley, Buddy Curry, Kenny Lewis, Sr., David Wilson, Herman Moore to name just a few. Both storied programs in their own right.

I see by watching Salem games they have problems with teams that have a balanced attack!!! Guess what we have??? And throw on top of all of that a very dangerous QB which you have only played 1 game this season!!!

Lewis918777, you hit on something very realistic in your post noted above. Salem did struggle a bit with the one true dual threat quarterback they faced this season. I know some will say the Charlottesville qb was a dual threat, but the triple option attack is not designed for a passing team. Its more of an exception than the rule. I believe Poole will challenge the Spartan defense; however, having Ramsey on the edge could slow down things a bit. Both teams can put up points, but I think the defenses will shock everybody and keep the score down. Just don't think GW can slow Ramsey down on offense. He will eat up yards and the clock. 28-24 Salem

Cutnjump, I have said this before, but I always get the year wrong, because I graduated in 1983. The 1981 and 1982 (correct me if I am wrong), GW Danville teams were unbelievable. Weapons everywhere and they beat some darn good teams I think the 1982 team beat Lake Taylor in the final.

Navy I agree with everything you said, however, I will add that Carlos Poole is just as big for Salem to stop as Ramsey is for GW to stop. I'm pretty sure GW will run away from Ramsey and at least double team him.

Good points. IMO both teams and individual players will be challenged and in uncharted territory on Friday night. Ramsey has been a homerun hitter in terms of yards and TDS and it is incumbent upon the GW defense to make him work for those Friday night. He is a gifted athlete unlikely to be shutdown. You have to make him work for it and to the extent the GW defense can turn those 9 carry, 5TD, 200+ yd games to 20+ carries, some less yds and 3 or less TD's, without losing sight of Tucker as well, that should be a positive for them. In Salem's case, they need to force GW to snap the ball multiple times and prevent the home runs. You force them to drive the ball and the more times you force them to snap it creates opportunities for errors to happen on their part. Just my opinion but, while both offenses are really explosive, Friday night boils down to which defense shows up with the most stops.

You got the years right. Scored 50+ while holding LT to 15 in the state championship game. The previous year lost in state semis to Robert Banks and the Crabbers. In my opinion, the best back to back years in program history.

Always respect your post BN!!! Everyone in Danville knows that stopping Ramsey will not be an easy task!! How well Salem responds if they get down by 2TD's or Vice versa!! This will be a battle of wits! Everyone has overlooked the fact that we have a very good TE that usually blocks! I see that you start from the 20 because Salem has an excellent kicker. The key to the game is how well each team deals with adversity when faced with it!!! GW-42 SALEM-14

Focus too much on Ramsey and the play action will kill you. I'll bet that some kids that many people haven't heard of decide this game

I have no horse in the Salem-GW race but I find it interesting that a lot of GW fans think that their team will win big and a lot of Salem fans think that their team will win big. Someone will be really sad and wrong at 9:30 Friday night.

No Salem fans predicting big win. Those predictions are from outsiders

If I had to choose, I would say let someone other than Ramsey beat me. I agree play action has been a sound weapon for Salem for years, but their current qb doesn't seem to have the "it" factor or consistency the past few Salem qb's possessed. His arm seems to be strong enough and he has good size; however, he struggles to make the simple throws at times. SouthbottomU, do you think its confidence or something else? Salem could open its bag of tricks and do damage with some screens and wheel routes if GW loads the box.

I can't say for sure, but I believe GW has the speed to cover Tucker deep. DSH or Lewis how do your db's cover in space?

I don't want to lose one of the commitments DSH put out.. was it hold GW to 20 points and he shaves his head? Now, the question... is he a head shaver already or is this a real thing? I will expect video.

They should have spread these games out over a few days..

Until someone beats the bully in November or December they are the favorites. Comparing scores just doesn't work. Not doubting GW one bit, but are they truly as battle tested and have they played in the big games Salem has? Should be a good one, and if things work out the way I hope we will see the winner in Bburg next week.

Don't think you guys need to run away from Ramsey. He has really only played a little defense rushing the QB on third and long situations. GW will definitely score points against Salem. This Salem group reminds me of the 2013 Spartans. A great offense and an average defense that won the games against lesser teams and lost to the really good ones. They were on a roll that season until they played a great defense. I guess the big question is whether GW has the defense to stop Salem.

Yep. Salem is still the big dog on the block until somebody knocks them off. And if we can get the upset this Friday, I think it will be one of the biggest wins in GW football history. Sure we have made it further in the playoffs, but knocking off the 2 time defending state champs in the playoffs would be HUGE.

Watlington will probably cover Tucker all night!! Our DB has speed! I want too see if our DL can handle Salem's OL and not get pushed around! Because if so it will be a long night for GW.

This sounds like the same stuff I heard from JF fans the year Salem played at their house. Salem needs to play disciplined defense, like I know they can. Their defense can be very good. I like the recent adjustments and I am confident this defense can stop the run. As for GW's defense, if they try to stop Ramsey and Tucker, we'll just go to someone else. There's plenty of capable players on Salem's offense. How big would you say GW's d-line is? What's the line's speed like? I think this game will be won/lost in the trenches.

JF had 2 players to stop. Stop them and you stopped JF.
